The Russian Centre is very proud to collaborate with the 4EB Ethnic radio and specifically, Russian Hour to reach even broader audience!

With a strong support from the Russian community, major changes were implemented for the broadcasting to make it more modern, informative and fresh. The broadcasts are now designed and run by a group of energetic and motivated individuals who truly take interests of the Russian Community to heart.

The concept of a new, collective approach to the radio broadcasting has only just emerged. Prior to the end of April 2011 all radio broadcasts were performed by a single presenter Tanya Shakhmatova, who dedicated 20 years of her life to the Russian radio. Tanya put her mind and heart into her work. We highly appreciate Tanya’s contribution. As we elaborated some time ago in the Centre’s updates, the circumstances changed and a new radio committee has been selected. This group has devised a new strategy for the Russian Radio program and successfully commenced the radio broadcasts.

Radio 4ÅÂ is an ethnic radio, which can be heard in Brisbane and on the Gold Coast at the frequency of 98.1 FM. Radio 4EB FM programs also accessible to a wider audience via Internet. For many immigrants, the radio in their native tongue may be the only means of information! It assists people who came to Australia from all corners of the world in keeping in touch with Global, Australian, local and ethnic community events in their native languages. There are 57 such ethnic groups at the radio 4ÅÂ. Our Russian Hour is amongst them.

The new Radio Committee consists of well-respected and energetic members: Vadim Kosse, Irina Bush, Elena Ilina, Elena Proskurina (German) and Boris Raiski. Alla Ekzarkho, Alexei and Lana Vikulov were invited to join the Russian radio as presenters. Radio presenters work on a voluntarily basis and do their best to prepare interesting and informative programs. They aim to inform its listeners about cultural, sporting and other events, introduce audience to interesting members of the local Russian Community, tell stories of all the different roads that lead to enjoyable and successful new life in Australia.

Broad programs of the Russian hour include topics on kids and parents, students and pensioners, schools and universities, Australian legal system as well as share tips and hints for reducing financial, legal and overall everyday stress for old and young alike. You can rely on the radio team for information on places of interest and leisure options. The strong bond formed with the Queensland Russian Community Centre, managed until recently by Elena Gosse, allows broadcasters to relate the upcoming events in the Russian-language community in a prompt manner.

According to members of the Russian group Radio Committee: ‘Our community embraced the dynamic changes dictated by time and the Russian Radio feels the need to maintain strong communication by the way of feedback and opportunities for listeners to provide their input into the programs. After every broadcast our phone runs hot with the calls and we pay close attention to constructive criticism, suggestions and requests. We will be happy to put a special request on air, be it a birthday song wish or special mention of important dates in your life’.

You can find a page on the Russian Hour on the 4EB Radio Community web-site (www.4eb.org.au) and find links to our web-site www.russianradiobrisbane.org. The site is almost completed but Radio committee made sure that the last four podcasts are always available for you, if you miss a program. You can download them in the MP3 format and listen in your own free time.

Please support the Russian Radio Group by choosing to “Like” the Facebook page of Russian radio, which you can find through either 4EB site or our website, or directly on Facebook.

Russian Hour on 4EB 98.1 FM also offers a great opportunity to ADVERTISE your business! If you want a wide audience to know about your company, a reasonable fee of $15 can give you this chance!
