Celebration of birthday of Alexander Pushkin and ‘Russian Language Day’ on the 5th of June |
The editors of 'Australian Lamp' magazine, a musical and poetic salon 'Australian Lamp' and the Queensland Russian Community Centre invite you to celebrate the birthday of Alexander Pushkin. The day has officially been recognised by the United Nations and the Government of the Russian Federation as ‘Language Day’. The celebration will be held on Sunday June 5, 2011, at 1:00pm at the Queensland Russian Community Centre .
The initiators of the celebration were the Russian Australian Representative Council. The editors of the 'Australian Lamp' magazine and QRCC supported by the Pushkin Fund, schools and the public in Brisbane enthusiastically engaged in preparing for the event.
'Australian Lamp 'announced a competition for the recital of works by Alexander Pushkin, and the children's art competition “Pushkin's fairy tales," for kids aged 4-14 for paintings, drawings, collages and craft creations.
The competition is open to children and adults. In addition to poetry, participants are invited to submit mock fairy tales and stories of Pushkin.
Prizes will be distributed in three age categories. Works are accepted until June 1, 2011. They can be submitted to St. Nicholas School every Tuesday from 4 to 7 pm, at St. Seraphim school every Saturday from 8.30 am to 12 pm, or sent to: The Australian Lamp, PO Box 6162, Buranda 4102.
The winners will be announced at a celebration in the Russian Community Centre on June 5, 2011.
