Father Gabriel Makarov performed a blessing ceremony at the QRCC

Preparation for the Russian Independence Day celebrations are in full swing. The QRCC is abuzz with preparing decorations, costumes, music and lighting equipment, rehearsals, planning the food and drinks, and of course the preparations for the commencement of construction work.

On Monday, 16 May 2011 Father Gabriel and Mother Makarov of St. Nicholas Cathedral performed a blessing ceremony at the QRCC over the allocated area where the access ramp is to be installed.

Father Gabriel Makarov was very pleased with this initiative, blessing the area of construction, and the commencement of construction.

Members of the QRCC Management Committee attended the ceremony. The day was sunny, providing a festive ambiance. Prior to the commencement of the ceremony Father Gabriel Makarov explained the meaning of the blessing. “We pray to the Holy Ghost before any good deed.” He blessed the area with prayers and holy water.

“A 'good deed' is any church, school and, of course, social activities. But for any deed to be good, in a spiritual sense, it should have a relationship with God and have His blessing.” Father Gabriel Makarov said.

“The Queensland Russian Community Centre was established to work with people, and it is no small responsibility. Therefore, the trustees and volunteers of the Centre should always put their activities so that people not only get a certain pleasure, but also spiritual benefit. "

At the end of the ceremony the President of QRCC, Elena Gosse thanked Father Gabriel and Mother Makarov and all those who attended.

Wishing a very successful and speedy construction.
